What is the Opioid Epidemic?
Starting in the 1990’s pharmaceutical companies started pushing the limits with synthetic and semi-synthetic Opioid options to doctors, claiming that, compared to Morphine, this option was much less addictive compared to the alternative. Due to the high demand of this new available drug, addiction rates sky rocketed and in 2019 9.7 million Americans were taking prescription painkillers improperly.
